This horns in vs out has been going on for years, so nothing new here 
It puts extra stress on hinges and kinda tweaks the lid toward one side, would you lift your car hood by the corner or closer toward the center
But some people just want to be different. Point them whatever direction floats your boat, but at least point the tips downward for a more ergonomic fit in the hand.
